27th May: Myth of Malham race
The Myth of Malham race is from Cowes to the Eddystone Lighthouse and back to the Needles Fairway. It is considered by some to be a practice for the Fastnet race. On Saturday 27th May I went out to Lepe early to see the start before doing a shift at NCI Stone Point. The racing started soon after 08:00 BST with the smaller yachts going first and the larger ychts later, which always seems odd to me.
The wind was a light easterly and, looking into the sun through the mist, conditions were not ideal for photography. However when the sun caught the spinnakers the yachts looked quite a sight.
