17th/21st Sept: Southampton Boat Show

I spent Sunday 17th September with other Calshot watch keepers on the NCI “stand” at the Boat Show. NCI now has its own containerised stand so this year we were out in the open rather than in one of the marquees. I wasn’t very good at getting people to join or donate to the NCI but I did get the “channel 65” message across to quite a few people and we had positive feedback.

I had chats with John Claridge, who has the latest Seafly SD on display, and with Matt, Nick,  and Dudley on the Swallow Yachts stand, and also had a look at the epropulsion electric outboard.

On Thursday 21st September I made use of my free entry as a senior citizen of SO17 to visit the show again. Wooderz demonstrated the top-down furling system on the Hyde Sails stand and I think I’ll order one for use next year. It sounds like I can get Hyde Sails to provide a complete package although it has to be ordered through Swallow Yachts.
