22nd February: Toes in the Water

On Saturday 22nd February I briefly visited “Toes in the Water”, an annual arts, crafts, and music event at the St Denys Boat Club which raised money for the Friends of Itchen Estuary project.  It had just started but there were quite a few people there.  I couldn’t stay long because i had had to fill a rota vacancy at NCI Stone Point so needed to drive out there.  However I took the opportunity to wander down to the boat shed area and was entranced by the rowing boats there.  Beautiful to look at but lots of maintenance!

The last photo is of a table top in the Boat Club which attracted my attention during one of our Flood Group meetings on 10th January.  It featured the River Itchen with (right to left) Cobden, railway, and Northam bridges, the now-demolished gas meters and the red and white of the St Mary’s football stadium.
