6th Mar: Jetty Rebuild – Week 2

(Week 2: 2nd to 6th March) Mark did not want to lay the boards for the first section of the jetty rebuild since there were still holes to be dug in the river bed and he did not want to be treading mud on new boards.  However Seatern was still at the jetty at least until Friday when she was due to be collected, although even that was not finally confirmed until mid-week which was making me a bit nervous!  Meanwhile I needed access to Seatern to clean her after the winter, and to store everything which had been sold with her inside the cabin.  That also included large items like the boom and sail pack as well as the spare sails, asymmetric, sheets, etc.

Given these restrictions, during the week Mark turned his attention to strengthening and much improving the staging in front of the shed which was distinctly sagging in places!  However holes for the new jetty uprights were also dug on the side of the jetty away from Seatern.

The following weeks’ work is described here.
