26th April: Lepe Beach Defences
On a Beach Walk from NCI Stone Point on 17th April it was not possible to access the Country Park’s D-Day remains due to work to put in new sea defences. The Country Park Facebook page had said “Access restriction to the easterly end of Lepe Beach – Monday 13th April for approximately 4 weeks – New groynes are being put in place at the east end of Lepe; towards the D-day remains. These are essential works that must be carried out to protect the beach from longshore drift.”
However the initial work mainly seemed to be aimed at renewing the fencing parallel to the beach to try to prevent a breach of the berm as happened in April 2024. This work seemed to have been completed by Sunday 26th April.
