18th May: Wisteria at Exbury
It was our annual DFS assessment and I had to be at the RNLI station at Calshot for 12 noon. The 100 year old wisteria in the Old Tennis Courts area at Exbury was reported to be very good this year so to see it I arrived at the gardens in time for the opening at 10am. There had been very heavy rain shows the day before and the rhododendrons were showing signs of ending the flowering season. Perhaps that, and the cool weather, meant the gardens were much less busy than I feared.
The wisteria was looking good and I spent some time sitting beneath it before wandering down to the ponds. I then had to leave to call in at NCI Stone Point to make sure everything was working before I went on to Calshot.
