3rd May: Seal Sleeping off Lepe
On Sunday of a Bank Holiday weekend I was on watch at NCI Stone Point and for some time we watched a seal dozing in the water in front of the station. Seals can sleep upright in the water with their head bobbing at the surface… sometimes called “bottling” for obvious reasons. The sequence above shows it bobbing about. This sleepy seal was not far off the shore but did not seem to be spotted by the beach-goers as we watched it.
