9th Oct: Car Service and St Barbe

Once again I celebrated my birthday by having the car serviced at Everton Garage where I originally bought it.  Usually I walk down to Milford-on-Sea and visit the Needles Eye Cafe as part of a stroll along the sea front.  However the pain in my arm prevented me doing that so I expected to wait at the Garage.  There had been a bit of a mix-up as to whether I would be waiting but they managed to reschedule it and offered me a lift into Lymington.

Having been dropped off at the car park behind Marks and Spencer towards the top of the High Street  I walked down to the St Barbe Museum.  There was an interesting exhibition The Life of the Fields which was advertised as “discover how artists have captured the heart of the countryside and the forces that have shaped it over more than a century”.

I glanced through the glass doors of the Research Room and saw the NCI Calshot Tower secretary in there, apparently he volunteers at the museam.  We had a quick chat since I had to get back to Everton Garage.

However there was time to look if there were any old charts for Lepe and we found a 1952 edition Admiralty Chart with corrections to 1954.  This showed Stansore Point and Stone Point in their correct positions at  time when the Ordnance Survey had Stone Point at Stansore Point!
