11th Feb: St Barbe Gallery
The old, ex-Seatern, Nasa Marine battery monitor was no longer working and a new one was needed for the new 12V panel at NCI Stone Point. They are not available on Amazon and the nearest Force 4 chandlers with one in stock was in Lymington. I’d thought about visiting the “Kurt Jackson: Lymington River” art exhibition at the St Barbe gallery so I decided to drive down to Lymington, collect the Battery Monitor, and drop it into Stone Point on my way back.
I was disappointed in the art, but mainly because most of the paintings were about the inland part of the river where it flows through the New Forest. If I’d thought about it, that’s where most of the Lymington River is! I ended up paying more attention to the boat building part of the exhibition. It’s only relatively recently I’ve realised the importance of the Berthon Boat Yard which was founded in 1877.
On the way back the road across the forest to Beaulieu was closed and I was sent on a long detour via South Baddesley to get to Lepe.
