Swallow Yachts Raid 2017 Introduction

The 2017 Swallow Yachts Raid took place between the 2nd and 6th June 2017 and again was based at Mylor Yacht Harbour near Falmouth. These photos were taken by myself, Peter Taylor, mainly on the 3rd and 5th of June while I was crewing one of the safety ribs which was being driven (sometimes unpredictably!) by Matt Newland.

On the 4th June Matt sailed his own boat, GoLightly, while Nick and Kate Peters did duty in the rib.  I sailed with Matt, acting as ballast on the fore-deck and later, as a human spinnaker pole. So apart from lunch time there are no photos on that day!

Which boats were photographed was determined by chance, but I hope that at least some photos exist of everyone’s yacht. Since the purpose of the ribs was to support the racing, it was not possible to choose which boats we were near at any particular time.

Downloading the photos – Please Read

You are welcome to download the photos and the larger images are adequate for viewing on computer screens and mobile devices.  However all the images on this web site are of reduced resolution.  If you took part in the Raid and you want to make large prints (e.g. A4 or larger) please  email me quoting the photo number(s) (DSC… or IMG… ) and I’ll email you a file containing a full resolution image.  The quality of the photos varies. If the number starts “DSC” it was taken with a digital SLR camera which gives the best results. Photos after the visit to Pandora Inn on the 3rd June were taken with a waterproof “snapshot” type camera, so the quality is lower.
