18th June: Raising the Mast!

Going under Northam Bridge

On every trip from home I have to go under Northam Bridge in Southampton (the photo shows a friend doing the same). Seatern has an arrangement to make lowering and raising the mast easier. I’ve been asked how well this works so, since I needed to lower the mast to re-align the wind vane, I made a short movie of raising it at the jetty. Normally I would do this underway on the river.
