21st June: New Battery!

While sailing on the 13th May the Garmin chart plotter started complaining of low battery volts. Possibly this was because the Tiller Pilot, which stopped working later in the trip with a slipping cam belt, was using more power than usual. However towards the end of last year I had been noticing that the battery was starting to get low towards the end of trips.

While in Lymington last week I noticed that the Yacht Mail chandlers were selling batteries at a discounted price which looked to have identical cases to the Yuasa battery in Seatern. Having checked the dimensions were indeed the same, I bought one there, and today I installed it. It is a 105Ah 12v sealed lead acid “leisure” battery.
