13th January: Frosty morning walk
A beautiful sunny day started with finding some frost crystals covering the moss on the jetty “railings” which are designed to stop Seatern’s standing rigging getting caught up if it’s a very high tide and a southwesterly gale.
Walking in Riverside park I came across a group of women who walked from the Woodmill car park to Mann’s Bridge and then swam back. The fresh water section of the river must be even colder than the tidal part, and I’ve given up swimming there for the winter!
Finally I was amused to see that the truck that emptied the park waste bins had carefully avoided the tarmac’d turning area constructed, no doubt at great expense, to allow it to turn around!
