2nd April: Coxed Fours on River Itchen
On 2nd April I happened to look out of my bedroom window and saw a coxed rowing four paddling up the river towards Woodmill… followed by another, and another, and….! So I waited for them to to come racing back down the river, thinking it would be quite spectacular with so many boats.
When they did return I realised that there was not way they could have a massed start since the river isn’t wide enough! It was obviously a timed race. I’ve since learnt that it was the Southampton Head of the River Race for Coastal Fours organised by Southampton Amateur Rowing Club. The map is from their web site.
I made a (not very exciting) video and took some photos mainly to remind myself of how lucky I am to have the view from my bedroom!
