1st May: Round the Island – very fast
On Sunday 1st May I went out to Lepe Country Park early to try to photograph the power boat Round the Island Race. Unfortunately the weather forecast was for light rain and drizzle, poor conditions for long range photography, and I would not have bothered going had I not been on watch at NCI Stone Point in the afternoon. The two leading boats went round the course in under 25 minutes and finished within a second of each other at East Lepe buoy. Here are some of the (rather grainy) photos I took.
As a bonus I also watched the RRS James Cook disembark her pilot and head down the western Solent and the Sea Cadet’s flagship TS Royalist also went past:
The photo of Tenacious is from the weekend previous!
