4th June: D-Day Memorial event at Lepe

During part of the D-Day Memorial Event on the 4th June in Lepe Country Park we had a rock group playing outside the NCI Stone Point station.  The music was actually rather good – I’d have thought “old fashioned” to modern youth. However we had to close the station door and all the windows to continue to monitor the VHF radios! Given that it was a sunny day it was a good job we had the translucent sun blinds to keep the temperature inside the station bearable.

Later in the day the following watch were able to enjoy the Marchwood Military Wives choir and monitor the radios without closing the windows!

I could not help thinking how the beauty of Lepe Country Park today is such a contrast to those horrific events of the D-Day landings.
