30th October: Itchen Seal !

While I was checking the high tide water levels on the 29th October I noticed that the jetty was becoming slippery. I made use of the high tide the next day to dip a yard broom into the water and scrub off some of the algae and dirt. Possibly this created some unusual underwater sounds because I noticed a seal watching me.

While it was there I went onto the pontoon at the end of the jetty and filmed it while pumpimg the jetty up and down with my legs. The idea was to make the seal curious. Whether it worked, I don’t know, but it did watch me for a little while before disappearing under water.
