March 2002: Tasmania

The 23rd session of the Joint Scientific Committee for the World Climate Research Programme was held in the Wrest Point Hotel Conference Centre in the City of Hobart, Tasmania from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd March 1998. At the end of the meeting an optional coach trip was organised to visit the Cape Grim Air Pollution Station at the northwest corner of Tasmania.

I stayed in Tasmania for a few days after that using a hire car to explore the island. I visited the National Parks at Mount Field and Lake St Clair and the Franklin River, and also the site of the penal colony at Port Arthur.
