Weekend Car Hire
The IUGG Assembly ran from Monday 3rd to Saturday 15th December. On the middle weekend I joined some colleagues from the Oceanography Institute in Wormley in hiring a car and driving out of Canberra towards the Blue Mountains.
I don’t think we saw very much on the way out so coming back we decided to take a back road. We came across a pair of emus and all got out of the car carefully so as “not to scare them”. The emus weren’t scared, they chased us back into the car!

We were disappointed not to have seen any kangaroos so the next day we drove to a nature reserve where they were plentiful!
