Imperial Palace Gardens and Zojoji Temple

It was probably on that last Sunday that I visited the Imperial Palace Gardens. I’d previously visited them in 1991 and then, as now, the two things that really impressed was the monumantal stone work which surrounds the moat (it had been a castle at one time), and the closely clipped hedges.

It must have been on that day also that I visited the Zojoji Temple, which was very close to the hotel and also the Tokyo Tower.  At the Temple I was fascinated by the Jizo Statues which are used in attempting to bring a little comfort following a miscarriage or still birth.
