August 2021: Cowes Week at “SP”

In 2019 we manned NCI Stone Point (“SP”) everyday during Cowes Week. I did a shift most days and obtained some good photos of the yachts including some racing action in the vicinity of Lepe Spit cardinal mark. However then covid-19 struck and in 2020 Cowes Week was cancelled.

With the difficulty of foreign travel causing many people to take “staycations” Lepe Country Park has been busy and we have been trying to man NCI Stone Point on everyday during the summer school holidays. Since being vaccinated, I’ve been doing quite a few shifts at SP often with trainees and thus fulfilling my role as a member of the training team.

So this year I booked shifts at SP during Cowes week and arriving early in the hope, as in 2019,  of obtaining some good photos of the racing before being on watch in the station. However this year the weather had different ideas! I’ve put links in the table below to photo albums for the few days when racing came past Lepe Country Park.
