Anjuna Beach Market

According to the 2000 edition of the Footprint Goa Handbook, the Wednesday flea market at Anjuna beach grew out of the time of Hippy’s and people selling off possessions before travelling on or travelling home. However the area had become dominated by the drugs and all-night party scene established during the 1990’s. The market was indeed vast covering a long area behind the beach. Fortunately it was not as crowded as it looked like it could be, probably because late February is towards the end of the October – March high season.  As far as I can remember we took a taxi out there …the constant use of the horn and accident “black spots” ascribed to bad road design, rather than the crazy way the people drove, are things I remember!
