Photo Gallery: Barry to Gulf of Lion

I think these are the photos taken during the passage leg from Barry down to the Gulf of Lion. They were on the end of a film and as a result the negatives were separated from the others which were definitely taken during the MEDOC 1970 cruise of RRS Discovery.

So I’m not entirely sure these are the photos referred to in my diary. The “porpoise” look like they may be pilot whales (“Black fish”). The seas don’t look that rough, but that is often the case in photos. Later on on the cruise, in the Gulf of Lion,  I took some photos which really do demonstrate that it really was windy!

All the negatives from the cruise had been poorly stored and I’ve had to use photoshop extensively to edit the dust and scratches which had inevitably occurred.
